Introducing – New Versions Of The Frederique Constant Classics Carrée Automatic

The Frederique Constant Classics Carrée is the brand’s take on a great classic: the rectangular dress watch (it is not exactly “square” as the name would suggest). It was first launched in 2003, and several iterations have been presented, in particular with XL and open-heart versions. For 2022, Frederique Constant introduces a clean and elegant take on the model with dials doing away both with Roman numerals and with the brand’s signature “open-heart” cutout.

The new dial features applied faceted indexes paired with dauphine-style hour and minute hands. The outer part of the dial has been given a sunray finish. Delimited by a rail track, the centre part of the dial features a guilloché pattern. Three new models join the collection: polished steel and silver dial; polished steel and navy-blue dial; and gold-plated steel and silver dial.

The rectangular case measures 30.40mm in width, 33.30mm in length and a slim 9.71mm in height. With fluid lines, it is complemented by a fluted crown. Turning the watch over, the see-through case back offers a view of the automatic FC-303 calibre, which is the brand’s name for the Sellita SW-200. You get a tried-and-tested automatic calibre running at 4Hz and with 38 hours of power reserve. It displays the hours, minutes, seconds and the date at 6 o’clock. The stop-seconds mechanism allows for precise settings. The gold-plated rotor is decorated with Geneva stripes.

The Frederique Constant Classics Carrée is worn on a navy blue, black or brown calf leather strap embossed with an alligator scale pattern and tone-on-tone stitching. It comes on a pin buckle. The regular stainless steel version retails for CHF 1,095, and the rose gold-plated steel version for CHF 1,395.
