A few months back, Eberhard released a modern reinterpretation of one of its popular 1961 historic references, the Scientigraf. Now, the brand has released a blue dial variation of its vintage-inspired dive watch the Scafograf 300 MCMLIX, launched last year.
The new Eberhard Scafograf 300 MCMLIX Blue keeps the design DNA of last year’s model intact and makes the collection more versatile by bringing a new blue dial into the mix. The dial has a deep dark shade of blue and has been given a Matt finish. Inspired by the 1959 Scafograf 200 model, the hour index on this watch comprises a mix of applied circular markers and triangular markers at 6, 9, and 12. The retro-shaped hands consist of a broad arrow style hour hand, a baton-style minute hand, and a lollipop style seconds hand. Furthermore, to accentuate the vintage-inspired look, Eberhard has made use of custard-colored luminous paint that offers a nice contrast to the blue background. Finally, a nicely framed date window sits at the 3 o’clock position. Overall, the dial is clean and legible, just like a dive watch should be.
The case has been crafted from stainless steel and measures a modern 43mm in diameter and has a moderate thickness of around 12.6mm. The design of the case is quite classic and features a nice round shape with a crown guard protected threaded crown at 3 and nice chunky lugs. There is also an automatic helium escape valve at 9, should one be interested in some saturation diving. Sitting on top of the case is a uni-directional dive time bezel that features a blue ceramic insert with vintage luminescent markings on the first 15 minutes scale.
Inside the watch ticks the reliable and trustworthy ETA 2824-2, which operates at a frequency of 4 Hz and offers an autonomy of around 38 hours. The movement is hidden underneath a closed case back that has been engraved with a starfish logo at the center and some other specifications related to the watch.
The new Scafograf 300 MCMLIX Blue can be purchased on a leather strap for EUR 2480 or a steel bracelet for EUR 3060.
