Still perceived as somewhat of a niche brand within the industry, Doxa is known for its rugged and functional diving instruments. Introduced in the 1960s, the brand quickly gained a reputation for building proper professional dive watches and soon achieved cult-like status amongst professional divers and fans worldwide. While most Doxa watches feature round or cushion-shaped cases, there’s a particular model from the 1980s with a far more angular profile: the SUB 600T. And now, roughly 40 years later and with the help of their Australian partner Time+Tide, it’s brought back to life as a limited edition. This is the Doxa SUB 600T Pacific L.E.

The original Doxa SUB 600T from the 1980s was introduced as an alternative to the round and cushion-shaped watches that preceded it. It was equipped with all the features of a proper Doxa diving watch at the time, which are still revered today. For this new interpretation of the Doxa SUB 600T, the brand hasn’t deviated from the familiar Doxa recipe, with the exception of the case.

While the 1980s Sub 600T featured the angular-shaped case that’s also present in this 2021 limited edition, now, for the first time, it comes in titanium. The case is fully brushed, giving it a proper utilitarian look. The signature notched “Doxa” bezel is also present, with a ceramic insert and the twin depth-minute display in orange and white. The crown is offset at 4 o’clock, with a small protrusion on the case’s profile.

The dial is finished in a rich Pacific blue, which seems brighter in tone than the blue used in various Doxa collections. The hour markers are a mix of diamond shapes and roundels in white with an orange outline. Of course, these are coated with Super-LumiNova for better legibility in poor light conditions. The oversized orange minute hand is another Doxa trademark, which is matched with a steel hour hand and a seconds hand with a boxed tip, again all with luminous coating.

Hidden under the closed caseback, with engraving mentioning the partnership with Time + Tide, is the automatic Sellita SW 200-1. This movement is a tried-and-tested one, running at 28,800vph and providing 38 hours of power reserve. Water-resistance is an impressive 600 meters, and the watch comes on a tone-on-tone rubber strap with a titanium folding buckle. It costs EUR 1,890 and is limited to 200 pieces.
