Summer is at its peak and Breitling seems determined to take care of the Summer blues by releasing some night and colorful timepieces. A short while back, Breitling revealed the new Heritage 57 Pastel Paradise Capsule watches. And now the brand has taken the veil off from the latest Breitling Chronomat variation that features a cool ice blue dial along with a made of Platinum.

To begin with, I like the overall design of the current generation Chronomat B01 42. The dial is clean and legible, the case is perfectly sized and looks handsome and the mechanical internals are modern. What I also like about the Chronomat is the variety of attractive color combinations on offer, which already comprises a nice shade of blue. While the existing blue variation is a deep rich navy color, the new Ice blue dial pictured here falls on the other end of the spectrum, offering a summery vibe. The lighter tone of blue looks refreshing and offers a great contrast to the jet-black tri-register setup. Furthermore, the dial also comes with a sunburst finish that should enable some interesting light play. The applied baton style markers and hands are still filled with luminous paint to offer better low-light visibility. And finally, the arrow-tipped chronograph hand has been presented in a brighter sky-blue color.

Made from stainless steel, the case on this new Chronomat variation maintains the overall design and dimensions of its siblings but comes with an interesting noteworthy update. It is still 42mm wide, has a thickness of around 15mm, and measures 50.2mm from lug to lug, making for a watch that should sit comfortably on a wide variety of wrists. Sitting atop the case is a rotating bezel which this time around has been crafted from Platinum instead of steel to lend the watch a more premium feel. Water resistance is maintained at a healthy 200 meters, making the Chronomat a highly capable sports chronograph.

Turn the watch over, and the Chronomat does not disappoint. The Breitling B01 movement might not be heavily decorated, but it certainly looks good with a clean industrial finish and Geneva striping on the bridges. The column wheel-based movement operates at 4 Hz and offers a healthy power reserve of around 70 hours. Furthermore, it is COSC certified which makes it highly accurate.

The new Breitling Chronomat B01 42 Ice Blue comes attached to a black rubber strap and will retail for EUR 8,750.
