Continuing the onslaught of the Only Watch 2021 releases, today we have for you another unique piece from none other than Audemars Piguet. The watch is question is a special variation of the Royal Oak 15202 Jumbo made using titanium and a palladium-based alloy. What is also worth noting is that this would the last ever unique 15202 Jumbo Audemars Piguet would produce.
At a glance, this unique piece looks quite familiar to a regular 1502 Jumbo. Presented in elegant silver color, the dial features the signature intricate Tapisserie pattern along with baton-style hour markers and hands. The minute track is printed in white and there is a nice-looking broad date window at 3. The hands and markers have been filled with luminous paint for better visibility in dimly lit situations and overall, the face is handsome and easily readable.
Like the dial, the case of the watch maintains the design and the thin profile of the watch it’s based on. The case measures 39mm in diameter and has a thickness of just 8.1mm making this watch capable of sliding under those cuffs very easily. But this is where the similarities end and the uniqueness of this new watch comes into the picture. The case on the Royal Oak 15202XT Jumbo has been crafted using a combination of Titanium and a palladium-based alloy. The mid-case and the bracelet are constructed using sandblasted titanium and the signature octagonal bezel is made of a palladium alloy which shares several characteristics with other glasses, including amorphicity, transparency, and high strength. The case is water-resistant to 50 meters which is acceptable given how thin the case is.
Flipping the watch over reveals the calibre 2121. This is an automatic movement that is just 3.5mm thick and offers a power reserve of around 40 hours operating at an odd frequency of 2.75 Hz. The movement is good to look at and features Geneva stripes along with a skeletonized rotor made from solid gold.
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 15202XT Jumbo for Only Watch 2021 will be auctioned at the Only Watch charity event slated to be held on 9th November 2021. The proceeds from the sale of the watch would be invested in research on muscular dystrophy.
