Introducing – The Brellum Duobox Classic LE.8 Chronometer (live Pics & Price)

Brellum is a small independent brand founded a few years ago by Sébastien Muller in the Swiss Jura. The brand produces classic-styled timepieces offered at a fair price as sold exclusively online, direct to customers. Brellum’s inaugural collection, the Duobox, is a no-nonsense Chronograph powered by the Valjoux 7750, with chronometer certifications. Sébastien Muller released a few limited editions of the model, including versions fitted with a full calendar chronograph 7751. Presented in early July, the Brellum Duobox Classic LE.8 Chronometer now comes in a new and attractive grey-toned attire.

Released in a limited edition of 15 pieces, the Brellum Duobox Classic LE.8 Chronometer is an iteration of the full calendar chronograph Duobox. This grey-toned take of the model features an anthracite dial matched by a DLC-coated stainless steel case, with brushed and polished surfaces. Just like the previous versions, the retro-inspired case is 41.80mm in diameter. It features piston-type pushers and domed box sapphire crystals on both sides of the watch. The front one protects the dial while the one at the back offers a nice view of the movement. This original construction also allows for a relatively thin caseband given the movement inside; the case is 11.20mm without the crystals and 15.90mm in total.

For this edition, the Brellum Duobox Classic has a tone-on-tone dial with an anthracite-coloured base, with a sunray-brushed pattern in the centre and a smooth hour chapter ring. The sub-counter are done in silver for more contrast and all the hands and applied markers are diamond cut and polished, giving a subtle luxurious touch to this more complex take on the Duobox.

The watch is powered by the automatic Calibre Brellum BR-751-TCMP, which is based on the ETA 7751, the full calendar version of the tried-and-tested 7750. The classic Valjoux 12-9-6 chronograph layout is complemented with multiple complications. As for the calendar itself, the day and month indications are displayed in two small windows integrated into the 12 o’clock register. The date is shown by a centrally mounted hand on a date track along the periphery of the dial. The aperture in the six o’clock counter reveals the waxing and waning of the moon. Last, there is a day-night indication inside the small seconds at 9 o’clock.

The Calibre BR-751-TCMP beats at 28,800 vibrations/hour and its power reserve is of 46 hours. Like for all Brellum watches, its precision is officially certified by the COSC. As mentioned above, it is visible via the glass box exhibition case back. the decoration includes perlage, Geneva stripes and blued screws. The openwork rotor is engraved with individual limited-edition number.
