Industry News – Watches & Wonders Geneva Will Be A Physical Event In 2022

Due to the global pandemic, the watch industry, as most industries around the world, has been dramatically affected. Sales were down, boutiques and retailers had to be closed, production was drastically reduced or even stopped for a while, and no watch fairs could take place, for obvious safety reasons. Indeed, the physical editions of the two major fairs, Watches & Wonders and Baselworld, had to be cancelled in 2020 – the latter even having to definitely close its doors after 103 years of existence. However, with signs of a pandemic that could come to an end, it is time for our beloved watch fairs to come back. This means that later in 2021 (with the Geneva Watch Days) and in 2022, we’ll be able to touch and feel some watches, and thus to bring you an even more in-depth coverage, as Watches & Wonders Geneva returns next year in a physical format.

This is it, after two years with way too many meetings behind a computer, looking at videoconferences and digital events, without always the ability to see the watches in person, and to meet with the people who actually created them – we did as much as we could, thanks to our presence in Europe and Switzerland – it is time for the old-school but yet much anticipated physical watch fairs to exist again. Next year, Watches & Wonders Geneva, the main event of the year, will be a physical event again, and it will take place in the halls of Palexpo (the historic location) from March 30 to April 5, 2022.

As for the participants, we can’t confirm yet if the 38 exposing watch brands present for the 2021 digital edition will come back in 2022. The list of participating brands and the exact format will be communicated at a later date by Watches & Wonders.
