German brand NOMOS is highly regarded within the watch fraternity for producing elegant timepieces with a minimalist design aesthetic. Another area where the brand shines is in its ability to make excellent use of color to keep its watches visually interesting. Continuing its playful approach, NOMOS released two new exciting NOMOS Club Campus watches with grey and orange dials during Watches and Wonders 2021. Let’s have a quick look.

Priced well below 2000 USD, powered by a trustworthy in-house manual winding movement, featuring a California dial packed inside a steel case that is water-resistant to 100 meters, the Club Campus range is sporty and affordable and is targeted towards the younger audience out there.

The new 2021 Club Campus watches keep the design DNA of the current lineup intact but make the collection versatile by bringing two new colorways into the mix. Firstly, we have what NOMOS is calling Future Orange. Presented with a Matt finish, this is a summary shade of Orange with some undertones of yellow. To heighten the excitement, the hour index has been outlined in a greenish-blue color and the double-digit numerals at intervals have also been presented in the same color. The final punch of color on this dial cones in the form of the siren orange baton-style second’s hand. Next, we have the Absolute gray which is a very light muted tone of gray. To make this model livelier the hour track and the minute track get bright purple accents and the second’s hand this time around has been rendered in post office red color.

The case is made from stainless steel and has been entirely polished. It measures 38mm (or 36mm) in diameter and features a familiar silhouette with a nice round mid-case topped by a broad bezel and long lugs, which are a divisive design element of almost all NOMOS watches. The case is water-resistant to 100 meters. At the 3 o’clock position is a grippy crown which should make winding the movement inside a joy.

Speaking of the movement, the Club Campus watches are powered by the NOMOS in-house Alpha caliber. This is a tried and tested movement that is used in many other popular Nomis watches such as the Tangente and the Orion. It operates at a frequency of 3 Hz and offers a respectable power reserve of around 43 hours when fully wound. And, while the movement is nicely decorated, to keep the price of the Campus in check, these watches come with a closed case back that can be decorated with an engraving of your choice for free.

The new NOMOS Club Campus watches are available to purchase on a grey or black leather strap with prices starting at USD 1,500 for the 36mm model and going up to USD 1,650 for the 38mm variant.
