Created in 2015, The Limited Edition (TLE) is a rather unique UK-based concept that aims at gathering some of the most limited and high-end timepieces from independent watchmakers. To mark its 5th anniversary, TLE has teamed up with Armin Strom to present two cool Gravity Equal Force limited editions with a black-and-gold colour scheme and exclusive Kari Voutilainen decoration.
Presented in 2019, the System 78 Gravity Equal Force is the result of Armin Strom’s research in the field of chronometry. Modern yet elegantly traditional, its goal was to seek new solutions to deliver consistent power in mechanical watches. Besides its striking architecture featuring straight parallel bridges and a dial-side micro-rotor, its Calibre ASB19 stands out thanks to the innovative construction of its barrel. Among other sophistications, it is fitted with an original stop-work mechanism adapted to the specificities of an automatic movement. In practice, only nine turns of the barrel are used out of a possible 12 and a half. The power reserve is still comfortable, at 72 hours, but by using only the optimal range of the mainspring, this ensures a more stable delivery of torque to the regulating organ, hence a more precise rate. To mark its 5th anniversary, The Limited Edition UK presents two exclusive variants of the Gravity Equal Force, limited to 5 pieces each. Presented in a 41mm stainless steel case, these are personalized with a black-and-gold colour scheme. 5 pieces feature gold bridges and steel screws, while the other five have steel bridges and gold screws.
The off-centred black dial is manufactured by Kari Voutilainen’s Comblémine workshop. Below the time display, the surface of the main plate is engraved with a beautiful guilloché decoration. Also manufactured by Comblémine, its exclusive pattern is called ‘Wave 12 Sectors’. Last, the micro-rotor is discreetly personalized with TLE’s star logo.
The Armin Strom Gravity Equal Force for The Limited Edition is fitted with an alligator strap with pin buckle. Price is set at GBP 15,750 (excl. taxes).
